2005-6 recap

The Marshfield Dance Team has had another fun and busy year.

We have performed more this year than any other year in the history of dance team.  We have been able to support more of the teams at Marshfield adding senior night performances for both the volleyball and boys soccer teams to our football and basketball team performances.  We also squeezed in a few community performances.  The following list includes most of our activities for the 2005-06 school year.

July - 4 days at Thunderbird Dance Camp

The team won many individual awards.
  Top honors were earned by Amy Woods, Amanda Johnson and Katherine Davenport when they were selected to the Thunderbird Dance Camp All-Star Team.

All-State auditions for seniors took place January 15 and 16.  Three seniors, team captain Amanda Johnson, team captain Amy Woods and Katherine Davenport made the final call backs and are all in the running for the 2006 OSAA All-State Team.

January 28 Grants Pass High School

Placed First Traditional Competition – SQS 71.7, 2581 points
            Advanced Drill Down: Noelle Caffey - First Place
            Novice Drill Down: Chloe Danielson

February 25 Churchill High School

Placed Third – SQS 73.4, 1318 points
           Advanced Drill Down: Amy Woods and Carly Carew
           March 17 & 18 State Dance Competition

 

Dance Team Prepares for State Competition at Churchill Meet

The Dance Team competed at Churchill High School on Saturday, February 25th and won 3rd place out of 8 teams in the small team division.

This was a very close competition and indicative of what we will face a State competition this year.

First place, South Albany with 7 ordinals
Second place, Sheldon with 8 ordinals, 1321 points
Third place, Marshfield with 8 ordinals, 1318 points
Fourth place, Ashland with 9 ordinals
Followed by Willamette, South Eugene, North Eugene and Dayton

Gladstone won the large team division with Thurston placing a close second.

Amy Woods and Carly Carew also won individual Drill Down honors placing in the top 10 in advanced drill down.
