We
had another great showing at competition this weekend.
We
went to the Emerald Valley Dance Competition at Churchill on Saturday and
had a great time.
We performed
our state routine twice and earned high marks both rounds. We not
only won in our division (4A small) but we earned the highest
score, 84.6, of all 12 teams competing. Second in our
division was Sheldon and third place was South Eugene.
Thurston won 4A large division followed by South Albany and Brookings
Harbor won in the 3A category.
We
had a long practice on Friday night to implement some changes to the
routine. This is not our typical pre-competition practice but the
team was committed to doing the best we could on Saturday and that
required a bit more last minute work than normal.
The
Choreographers, Breann Agnew, Courtney Schroeder, Danielle Ustica and I
made the final changes to the dance this morning and the complete
routine will be performed this Wed at Southwestern Men's and Women's
games and at Senior Night at MHS on Friday. We are excited to show
everyone the complete routine.
We
also made a good showing in drill down with Tye Vossler, Courtney
Schroeder and Amy Woods making the final 10 for advanced drill down and
freshman Amanda Hartley making the final 10 for novice drill down.
Our
practices have been great. The team is beginning to focus and pull
together, they are reaching the point a coach hopes for where they begin
to connect on the floor and dance as a team instead of individuals doing
the same piece of choreography. This is our ultimate goal as this
is what it will take to place at state.
I am
thrilled, the team is excited and we are looking forward to our last few
weeks of practice before state.
We
have 6 seniors that will be graduating this year, Breann
Agnew, Courtney Schroeder, Danielle Ustica, Tye Vossler, Kayla
Durham and Ashley Hanners). They are dedicated young ladies and an
inspiration to their teammates. They have received many
honors, including those listed below.
