* Home games at Sumner **All home games at North Bend 1963-1974 The district was set up as a Northern Division and Southern Division. The winner of a five game series between Marshfield and North Bend got to play the second place team in the Northern Division. If they beat the second place team from Eugene-Springfield, they then had to beat the first place team twice to go to state. If the Southern Division winner beat the second place Northern team and then the first game versus the Northern Division champion, the Southern winner and the Northern winner were deemed MWL 'co-champs'. The setup all but assured the Northern teams of always going to state. The absurdity of the set up is exemplified by the Marshfield loss in the third game of a triple header played in Bend, after beating North Eugene 2-0 and Sheldon 4-2, the Pirates were required to play a third back-to back-to back game. It's amazing the lengths adults will go to to ensure their children's success..
