As a student at Brigham Young University. Judy
was active in dance as a member of a national dance organization entitled "Orchesis." She was also a member of the well known BYU International Folk Dancers.

Judy graduated from BYU in 1964 with a major in dance and physical education.

She taught dance for three years at a large high school in Northern California.

Judy married Giles Parker in 1967 and moved to Beaverton, Oregon. While in Beaverton, she taught at Sunset High School and Mountain View Middle School.

Judy and Giles have three children; Troy, Butch and Rachel. All are graduates of Marshfield High School.

Judy returned to teaching in 1989. She taught Physical Education and was the coach of Marshfield's dance team, the "Upbeats." She was also the cheer team advisor for the 1989-90 school year.

The Upbeats won a state title in 1990 and also won the coveted "Inspection Award" as the state competition's best costumed team.

That first year set the stage for continued success. Over a twelve year span. Judy's teams won four state championships (1990, 1995, 1996, and 2001).

Under Judy's leadership, the Upbeats brought back to Marshfield High School a state trophy in each of her twelve years of coaching. Along with the four state titles: they earned 3 second places, 2 third places, 2 fourth places and 1 fifth place.

Judy was named "Oregon Dance Coach of the Year" in 2001.

Judy retired from teaching and as the Upbeat coach in 2001.

After retirement, she served the Oregon State Board of Dance for 3 years.
