Cross Country Girls Splash way
to double victory
Marshfield's
girls cross country team placed 7 runners in the top 11
finalists of a three way meet with Thurston and Willamette.
The meet was held at Sunset Bay and a unusually high tide forced a
change in the course as the ocean covered the entire beach.
Our Pirate girl's splashed through 12 inches of water in a creek
that normally is just an inch high and soon left their opponents far
behind. Moriah Roberge took first overall as the Pirates
splashed Thurston 20-41 and Willamette 19-42
The tide mercifully
retreated a little for the boys race. Jared Bassett led the
Pirate lads with a second place finish. The boys team beat
Willamette 17-44, but the Thurston boys conquered the creek and the
Pirates 20-41.
